RTAA GIS Mapping services

RTAA can provide a survey and mapping service for GIS mapping of parking, highways and similar asset management infrastructure items.

Typical projects include:

  • Mapping of parking restrictions to the high levels of accuracy required for parking enforcement
  • Overview maps of areas to accompany DPE / CPE applications to DfT, SG or WAG
  • Plotting of records of planning application locations
  • Creation of a GIS inventory of highway signs and lines
  • Plans for the design of town centre and residents parking schemes
  • Mapping of moving traffic orders, speed limits and many other items of highways assets
  • Mapping of off street car park footprints

More and more, Councils need simple, accessible and easy to understand ways of recording their infrastructure. You have the data. We have the resources and the knowledge to plot it for you.

In the case of mapping parking restrictions and speed limits, we have helped to pioneer the simple and clear process of using the maps as the schedules to the Traffic Order. We can also draft TRO preambles and help you to develop and implement procedures for the ongoing management of your whole TRO process and infrastructure assets.

Because we use staff with backgrounds in cartography and GIS, as well as people with traffic and transport experience, we are able to offer their technical knowledge to adapt your requirements to these or any other GIS systems. We have carried out mapping work for over 90 Councils and have practical operating experience with the following GIS systems:

ArcGIS, Axis 2000, Cadcorp, GGP, MapInfo, ParkMap.

In conjunction with our surveying teams we can carry out area-wide inventories and create bespoke databases for you. We can also offer practical advice about the best ways to structure and present your mapped data, using your Council’s corporate GIS, so that it is accessible to all users including the public.
